Santa Maria di Sala (VE), March 9th, 2023
Fantic Racing MX Team riders have started the 2023 season in the right gear: Elias Escandell, not content with putting the 125 class Italian Absolute title in his trophy cabinet, is dominating the Spanish championship with a string of victories: four in the first four races.
His teammates were not to be outdone: victory for Maximilian Werner (125) and Lynn Valk (Women) in the opening race of the Dutch championship in Lierop. Cas Valk brought home a good fifth place and another race to increase confidence with his Fantic XX 250.
A promising pre-season, useful for regaining race pace and building morale.
Just now that the dancing is starting to get serious and to the tango rhythm because this weekend, the MXGP World Championship kicks off, with the Argentine GP, in Villa La Angostura, a location framed between the Andes and the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi.
Tom Guyon will be the only Fantic Racing MX team rider flying (in every sense, and hopefully in the most positive sense of the word) with Marco Maddii.
Riding the XXF 250, Guyon leads the Fantic Racing team to its debut dance in the MX2 world championship.
After the victories of the last two years (EMX250, EMX 2T, and the 125 JR world championship with Hakon Osterhagen in 2021 and the EMX125 title with Cas Valk in 2022), the Italian manufacturer will hold its first world championship in the MX2 class.
A class that promises to be competitive and where Guyon made his debut last year; however, having to skip the first races due to the aftermath of the right knee injury suffered at the end of the 2021 EMX250 champion. But even paying this gap compared to rivals, nr 27 has shown talent and speed, improving race after race getting fourth place overall in the GP of France, in Saint Jean d'Angély, and closing the championship in 15th position. So now there is finally a chance for him to tackle an entire world season.
Marco Maddii, Fantic Racing MX team manager: "We are ready to debut in the MX2 world championship. We go to Argentina convinced to do well but also aware of the margin for growth that we have. The goal for this GP is to finish in the top 10. The first races of the year have been satisfactory, Tom has worked hard to improve the feeling with the XXF 250, and we are all focused ahead of this first round."
