Arma di Taggia (IM), April, 2nd 2023

This weekend, in the splendid scenario of Arma di Taggia (IM), the doors of the 2023 season of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship were officially opened with a race perfectly organized by the historic Motoclub Sanremo which, with its more than ninety years of history, organized an event of the highest level from all points of view.

The GP of Italy took place in a three-day event full of emotions under a typical spring sun and in the presence of a large audience of enduro enthusiasts, who welcomed and supported the circus of the world enduro during the whole weekend, pouring along all the special tests, contributing to making even more spectacular this inaugural GP of the Enduro World Championship.

Friday, after the opening parade that led the riders to the Casino of Sanremo for the opening ceremony, the Italian GP and the international enduro season began with the Super Test on the beach of Sanremo.

The Italian GP foresaw a race path of over 40 km characterized by high-level and very technical tests, where experience and control played a fundamental role in the race's success. In addition, three special tests were scheduled to be run four times daily for twenty-four special tests throughout the race weekend.

The path designed by Motclub Sanremo, assisted by Track Inspector Maurizio Micheluz, opened on both days with a 2 km Cross Test on the beach of Arma di Taggia, followed by a 7 km long Enduro Test with hard terrain full of natural obstacles inside a woods area. Then, an Extreme Test at the end of the lap is as spectacular as insidious for its up and down, characterized by hard and dusty terrain interspersed with stones for a total of 2.4 km.

In the E3 class, Lorenzo Macoritto, Simone Albergoni's Fantic Racing Enduro Team rider, collected an eleventh and an eighth place in the two days. The rider from Friuli, who has just returned after a long injury, will give the Fantic colors some good results during the 2023 season.

In the Junior class, the protagonist was Jed Etchells. Franco Mayr's JET Fantic Racing team rider won both the Junior 1 class on the opening day and the Junior class on day 2, after a long day of racing, finishing second in the Junior 1. Thanks to these results, Jed is now the leader of the JR class. general standing.

Third step of the podium in the Junior 2 class for Albin Norrbin. The Fantic Racing Enduro team rider rode an excellent first day of competition, but on Day 2, the Swedish rider could not repeat.

Good performance for Harry Edmondson, JET Fantic Racing, who took eighth place on the first day of competition. On the following day, he improved his performance finishing in seventh position. Positive weekend for the brit, who debuted in the Junior class and with his Fantic XEF 250.

Excellent world premiere for Kevin Cristino: the Fantic Racing team rider won both youth class competition days. Riding the Fantic XE 125, the young rider dominated the Youth class and is currently the full-score leader. Also in the Youth class, Fantic Racing rider Valentino Corsi took an excellent fourth place on both the opening day and Day 2.

Jane Daniel reconfirmed herself as the rider to beat: the reigning world champion of the JET Fantic Racing team conquered both days and, at the moment, holds first place in the Women's class with full-score.

With the Italian GP concluded, the enduro circus will be back to warm up its engines in a month when the second round of the 2023 FIM EnduroGP season will be raced in Spain, at Lalìn, on 7-9 May.

Lorenzo Macoritto: "The level of the E3 class is very high, but I am sure that in a few months and a few GPs, I will be able to express myself at my best. I am recovering well after the injury, and the feeling with the Fantic XE 300 is perfect."

Jed Etchells: "A good start to the season, and these victories are also the result of excellent work with the team. Now we must not let our guard down and be focused on the next GP in Spain."

Jane Daniels: "It was difficult to win these two race days because my rivals are fierce. We started the season on the right foot and must continue on this path."

Kevin Cristino: "A perfect start to the season with a double victory in the Italian GP, but now we have to concentrate and think about the next appointments, first with the Assoluti and then for the second world round in Spain."
