Coldenhoff secures third in the 2025 MXGP World Championship

With one round still to go, an outstanding result for Fantic Factory Racing MXGP is already a fact: Glenn Coldenhoff will conclude a memorable MXGP campaign with a well-deserved bronze medal. And thanks to another solid performance from Andrea Bonacorsi, there are two Fantic XXF 450 inside the top 8 of the premier class of the FIM Motocross World Championship.

The MXGP of China, round 19 of 20, will be remembered as one of the most demanding tests of the season, with hot and humid conditions providing an extra challenge for man and machine. The Fantic Factory Racing MXGP squad pushed through with determination and hard work, and was rewarded with a couple of top-8 overall results – but above all, the mathematical confirmation of a milestone achievement: Glenn Coldenhoff will conclude the 2025 MXGP World Championship in third place in the standings, delivering a historic result for Fantic in only its second full year in the premier class of Motocross.

Thanks to a high-level performance throughout the season, with remarkable consistency and no fewer than six podiums so far, 7-9 results in the scorching heat of Shanghai were enough for “The Hoff” to secure the bronze medal, which will be presented to him next week in Australia.

Back in China, the lead Fantic Factory Racing MXGP rider in the day’s overall standings was Andrea Bonacorsi. Always sharp out of the gate aboard his Fantic XXF 450, the young Italian collected two eighth places, which put him seventh overall. “Bona” finished just ahead of Coldenhoff, eighth overall with the same points as his teammate.

It was a more difficult weekend for Brian Bogers, despite an encouraging start with P9 and P8 in the two practice sessions. In the races, however, he never really managed to break into the battle for the top 10, crossing the line in 14th and 15th. He ended the day 14th overall, but the motivation to finish the season on a high is still strong – with eyes now on the grand finale next week on a brand-new track in Darwin, Australia.

Andrea Bonacorsi:

“A tough GP with crazy heat, but two good starts really helped me today. In race 1 I rode the whole moto with Glenn, we weren’t too far from fourth place but it was difficult to pass. I had another good start in race 2, but I lost a couple of positions when Lucas [Coenen] fell in front of me. I held sixth for most of the race, but I felt a bit tired in that second race and struggled towards the end. Still, I managed to take seventh overall – considering that all the top riders are out there now, that’s not too bad. Of course, we want a bit more, and we will try again in Australia!”

Glenn Coldenhoff:

“What a tough GP, the heat was unreal and I struggled quite a bit. Looking at the results this weekend, it is definitely not what I wanted, but I gave it my all. I pushed hard in the first race and managed to make some passes, but I had nothing left in race 2. Still, the most important thing is that I managed to secure the bronze medal. I am very happy about that – it means a lot to me, the team, and everyone at Fantic. Thanks to everyone for the support!”

Brian Bogers:

“It was a really tough GP. Usually, I handle the heat well, so that shouldn’t be the problem. I feel like I can push in the practice sessions, but in the races it doesn’t work out at the moment. I need to figure this out and turn it around for the last round. I am still motivated to finish the season strong.”
