Cristino and Pavoni take the Fantic XE 300 to victory

At the third round of the 2025 Assoluti d’Italia, a superb Kevin Cristino claimed a double victory in the Junior class, also achieving strong results in the Overall standings. In the 125 class, Pietro Scardina secured two second-place finishes. Meanwhile, in the 300 class, Matteo Pavoni – a Fantic-supported Team Specia rider aboard the XE 300 with Minarelli engine – topped the standings on both race days, further extending his lead in the championship.

Tuscany welcomed the Italian Enduro Championship with two days of racing in Massa Marittima, which hosted the third stop of the 2025 Assoluti d’Italia, counting as the fifth and sixth rounds of the season. The Motoclub Massa Veternensis, in collaboration with Track Inspector Mario Rinaldi, designed a challenging 50 km course with three demanding special tests that put the riders to the test, requiring them to complete four laps on Saturday and three on Sunday, for a total of 21 special stages.

The race began in the town centre and then moved on to the Enduro Test, a challenging, technical, and fast 6 km special entirely in the forest, characterised by slippery terrain and a perfect mix of narrow, technical sections and faster trails. Next, the riders tackled the Extreme Test, located in a forest and featuring spectacular passages through a streambed for about 2 km. To finish the loop, there was a 5 km Cross Test on the hard, typical terrain of Tuscan races, designed with wide, off-camber turns and fast sections.

Reigning Junior class champion Kevin Cristino locked in a third consecutive double. Riding the fuel-injected Fantic XE 300 with a Minarelli engine, he delivered a strong performance at the third round of the 2025 Assoluti d’Italia, finishing inside the top 8 overall on both race days and setting the third-fastest overall time in Friday’s SuperTest. Thanks to his two class victories in Massa Marittima, the 21-year-old Italian now leads the championship standings with a perfect score of 120 points.

In the 125 class, Pietro Scardina secured two second-place finishes and recorded the best time in his class in the SuperTest. The Tuscan rider showed great speed over the two days of racing, posting the fastest times in multiple special tests.

Albin Norrbin took some time to find his rhythm, but once up to speed, he performed well in several specials. The Swede narrowly missed out on a top-10 overall on Day One, placing 11th and finishing 6th in the Foreigners’ class. Unfortunately, on Sunday he was forced to retire due to a minor technical issue.

Overall, it was a positive weekend for Fantic, also thanks to another success in the 300 class with Matteo Pavoni, a factory-supported Team Specia rider. Pavoni won both race days aboard the new Fantic XE 300 equipped with a Minarelli engine, and currently leads the provisional 300 class standings.

With the Tuscan round now complete, the Assoluti d'Italia Enduro Championship moves to Abruzzo, where the penultimate two-day event of the season will take place on June 7–8 in Civitaguana (PE), before the grand finale scheduled for mid-July.

Kevin Cristino:

“Another great weekend of racing here at the Assoluti, and it started off very well with third overall in the SuperTest, which was a nice feeling. On the two race days, I scored two more class wins and finished with a solid 8th place overall. We are in the mix, and the top 5 isn’t too far out of reach!”

Pietro Scardina:

“All in all, a positive weekend, with two second-place finishes in the 125 class. It is just a shame about Saturday when I took a hard hit on the third lap in the Enduro Test, which compromised the outcome of the race. Now we need to give our best in the next two rounds of the Assoluti.”

Albin Norrbin:

“A weekend of ups and downs. On Saturday, I had a good first day of racing, although I only started setting strong times in the special tests towards the end. On Sunday, I had a minor technical issue and had to retire early.”
