Top 10 for Aron Canet at the Americas GP

Heading off from Pole Position, Aron Canet gained more important points for the championship collecting a ninth-place finish in the third round of the Moto2 World Championship in Austin.

The weekend in Austin had started in the best possible way for Aron Canet and the Fantic Racing Team with the second pole position of the season and the ninth in Moto2 for the Spanish rider. In the race he was unable to take advantage of it, because of an unfortunate start. He still took home a ninth place, taking important points for the championship where he remains in contact with the top ranked riders, just 13 points off the lead.

For Xavi Cardelus it was a challenging weekend on a very demanding track that was almost new to him. During the sessions, however, he managed to improve the feeling and gain further experience.

Aron Canet:

"The start was not good and in Austin the first corner is narrow and slow. Starting from pole I was on the outside, so at the first corner I had many riders on the inside. I had to go for a wider line to avoid them and lost positions. From there on, the race became quite complicated. It didn’t go as we had hoped for, but the weekend overall showed that we are very fast. We try again in Jerez in two weeks, which is even more special for me because it is the Spanish GP."

Xavi Cardelus:

"It has been a complicated weekend, it was a new circuit for me and from my point of view the most difficult of the championship. However, we continued to improve in every session, which is very important. In the race I was not able to ride as I would have liked. I need to be calmer and have more confidence."
