Fantic Racing Lino Sonego on the podium at home with Canet!

The Spaniard claims third place after an exciting race in Mugello, showcasing all his heart and talent. Barry Baltus finishes 11th as Fantic shines at home.

The Brembo Italian Grand Prix ends in celebration for the Fantic Racing Lino Sonego team: Aron Canet claims a spectacular third-place finish in Mugello, the team’s home race, after a thrilling and hard-fought battle. The Spanish rider remained firmly in the leading group throughout the race, proving once again that he is one of the main contenders for the Moto2 World Championship.

After a sharp start, Canet went straight into attack mode, fighting for the top spots. Despite facing some challenges on the straight, he made the difference in the technical sections of the Mugello track, making up time with class and determination. The final laps were pure adrenaline: a fierce head-to-head with Moreira, featuring overtakes, counter-attacks, and last-second braking. Canet held strong and launched the perfect move on the final lap to snatch the podium. With this result, Aron climbs to 134 points in the championship standings, just 9 points behind the leader.

It was a tougher race for Barry Baltus, who nonetheless managed things with focus and composure. Starting from the third row, the Belgian rider didn’t find the ideal feeling to battle at the front, but maintained a consistent pace to finish 11th. A solid result that keeps him fourth in the overall standings and confirms his reliability and race craft.

It was a scorching weekend both on and off the track, with a packed hospitality full of guests, partners, and friends cheering on the team at their home round. Canet’s podium lit up the paddock and delivered unforgettable emotions for the entire Fantic family.

Next stop: the Dutch GP at Assen. But for now – it’s party time.

Aron Canet:

“It’s been a really special weekend and I want to sincerely thank the whole Fantic Racing Lino Sonego team for the incredible job, as well as all the sponsors and guests who came to support us here in Mugello. Feeling such strong support at the team’s home GP was emotional and gave me an extra boost.

I am really happy with the podium: we worked hard to find the right feeling, and today I was able to push with confidence. The battle for third was intense – maybe even a bit aggressive at times. You can still fight hard while being a little more respectful. But in the end, we made it to the podium, and that’s what matters. We now have a strong pace, a great feeling, and lots of confidence. I am super pumped for Assen: we are ready to keep fighting!”

Barry Baltus:

“Today wasn’t an easy day. I struggled a lot from the first lap and couldn’t ride the way I wanted. It’s a pity, but I accept the result and look ahead: next week we have another chance, and I will give it everything I’ve got to bounce back.

I want to thank the team and all the sponsors for their great support and kindness this weekend. Racing the Italian GP with an Italian team was something really special for me – the energy, the passion, and the atmosphere were incredible.”

Roberto Locatelli, Fantic Racing Lino Sonego Team Manager:

“It was a great Sunday, one of those to remember. Aron had an outstanding race, fighting hard until the very last corner to take this podium, which also marks a bit of a new beginning for us. We are back on the 2025 chassis, and now the goal is to keep improving and get closer and closer to the top, rather than being a step behind like we were at times today.

Barry had a solid race. After yesterday’s crash and a few expected aches, it was normal to feel some physical effects. Unfortunately, starting from the third row also affected tire management and temperatures, which compromised part of his performance. But we’re confident: in Assen, he will definitely be back in the mix, and the entire Fantic Racing Lino Sonego team will be pushing hard to fight for the podium again.

I want to sincerely thank every single guest who came to support the team this weekend, all our sponsors, and the Fantic management for their strong presence and energy. Results never come by chance – you need to create the right environment, and once again this weekend confirmed to me the true value of Fantic, as we are achieving great things together.”
