Vice World Champion in 2024 with six pole positions, 110 laps led, four victories, and a total of eight podiums, Aron Canet is gearing up for another spectacular season with the Fantic Racing Lino Sonego team.
1) We are entering your second season with Fantic Racing. Looking back on your career, you had to wait four years to secure your first victory in the middleweight class—but you achieved it in just your second race with Fantic. Even more impressively, you ended 2024 with four wins and eight podiums after a stellar second half of the season. What changed? What made the difference after joining the Italian team?
I am thrilled to kick off my second year with Fantic Racing. The team has helped me truly understand the essence of motorsport. They played a big role in boosting my self-confidence like never before, and I am also very grateful to our Team Manager, Roberto Locatelli, who has helped me to stay calm and composed. After several years in Moto2 with solid results but still chasing that first victory, it wasn’t always easy—but then we finally made it happen. And to top it off, three more wins followed.
2) Some people even speak of a “new Aron”. What makes this version of you so strong? And what kind of Aron Canet can we expect to see in the 2025 season? What have you and the Fantic Racing Moto2 team been focusing on to push the limits even further?
I worked mainly on the mental side in the second half of the season. At the same time, my relationship with the team grew stronger as we got to know each other better with every race weekend. We became a truly united group, which allowed me to focus on my mindset. We managed to improve, and the results were amazing, especially in the latter part of the season. During the off-season, I have been working hard on my physical fitness, training more than ever to ensure I start 2025 at 100%.
3) Asking a Vice World Champion about his goals feels too obvious, so let’s reframe it. What is your biggest motivation? What is the first thought that drives you in the morning? What fuels your fire every day to keep working hard on and off the track?
The only goal that makes my heart beat faster is to try and become a Champion together with Fantic. As a team, we are well aware of our strength, which is why we are working tirelessly during this off-season to be fully prepared and ready to go from the very first race.
