GP of Indonesia: Baldassarri 23rd and Casadei 24th

October 15th, 2023

The fifteenth round of the Moto2 World Championship concluded with the Indonesian GP at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, the first race of three in a row that will continue over the next two weekends in Australia and Thailand. The Indonesian MotoGP World Championship continues with qualifying for the Moto2 class.

Lorenzo Baldassarri and Mattia Casadei finished 23rd and 24th in a race complicated by episodes.

The two Fantic Racing team riders got off to a great start, gaining several positions and showing excellent determination with good times.

On the eighth lap, when he was in the twenty-first position, due to a loss of grip on the rear, Baldassari hit his bike's front fairing, damaging the aerodynamics. A situation that forced him to manage the situation, worrying about finishing the race in the best possible way.

Casadei had to pay three long-lap penalties for shortcuts, thus losing contact with the group. It was a pity because the 2023 Moto E World Champion also showed improvement and good consistency.

Next round, the Australian GP at the scenic Phillip Island track.

Lorenzo Baldassarri: "The bike is a spectacle, and I thank the team for their work. We had a good pace, and I am very sorry for the problem with the fairing. At that point, the only concern was to finish the race."

Mattia Casadei: "I didn't think I had to take the first long-lap penalty because another rider pushed me out. I'm sorry, but we gathered more important data ahead of next weekend's race in Australia."
