Another Pole Position for Fantic’s Aron Canet at the Americas GP

After his maiden Moto2 win in Portugal, World Championship leader Aron Canet picked up where he left off and claimed an amazing Pole Position at the iconic COTA in Austin, Texas.

For the second time this season and for the ninth time in his Moto2 career, Aron Canet will head off from Pole Position on Sunday. During Practice 2 at the Grand Prix of The Americas, the 24-year-old Spaniard focused on his race pace and tested the various tyre compounds in preparation for the upcoming 16-lap race but still comfortably gained the direct access to Q2 in ninth place. In the all-important qualifying session, Canet put together a perfect lap and secured another pole for Fantic Racing in only its second season in the category.

Aron Canet: “We have worked a lot to be the fastest and to get this Pole Position, we are ready for the race. My Fantic Racing team helps me to stay calm and feel relaxed. The goal going into tomorrow is always the same – to win! After my first ever Moto2 victory in Portimao I want another win.”

At a venue he hasn’t raced at since 2019, Xavi Cardelus will fight from P27 on the grid. Sunday’s Moto2 race will begin at 12:15 local time in Austin (GMT-5).
