It was a very unlucky race for Celestino Vietti. Indeed, for him, there was no race at all. Immediately after the start, another rider knocked him down in a crash involving four others at the first corner. The red flag stopped the race, but the Piedmontese rider could not rejoin the next restart.
Unfortunately, initial examinations revealed a fracture of the pubic bone.
It was a pity because Vietti, who had just become familiar with the Buddh International Circuit, had been fast throughout the weekend, even setting the third-fastest time in FP3.
Borja Gomez crossed the finish line in sixteenth position, replicating his best performance of the season in the Austrian GP.
